The paper ticket has gone forever as most airline give you an electronic ticket these days.  Buying a flight online will give you a e-ticket with a number.  This number is your alone and might be asked for at the airport so be sure to make a copy of it and take it with you.  These tickets allow you to show up at the airport and show just a photo ID to board.
Also on this e-ticket is and reservation code from the airline which in not your ticket number.  If there are complications with your reservation at the airport, it is your ticket number that will be needed.  Whether you are searching for a flight to Australia or flights to London, e-tickets all look the same.  Print your out when you get your conformation so that you have a copy.

As you book your flight, many of the airline will let you choose your seat from those that are available. The sooner you choose your seat the better. Most travelers will not want to be the middle person of a row of three seats.  Depending on what you are flying, window seats are always popular but with a night flight, it doesn’t matter.  Before you click to pay for your ticket, double check to make sure all information is correct.
