Top five music venues to visit on your trip to London

London is the number one location when it comes to the music scene and has the biggest names performing. Whether you are a regular and live in the city or are visiting and staying in one of the London Hotels, there are a wide variety of venues from pubs to arena venues to see performances at. Music acts do their major tours in London and some acts start their career here, so the music scene is vast. These are our five top music venues which offer a variety of genres and live performances that you should check out on your visit to London.

 Roundhouse, in North London, was a music venue throughout the 60s and 70s and was reopened in 2006 after renovations. It had performances from the likes of Jimi Hendrix and The Doors where they did their only UK gigs. Since it has reopened it has had performances from Paul McCartney, The Chemical Brothers, The Beastie Boys, The Who and James Brown.

 O2 Academy Brixton is an award winning south London venue which was built in 1929. It has brilliant art decor interior which has been preserved since it was built. It has seen the biggest names perform there such as, The Rolling Stones, Sex Pistols, Foo Fighters, Coldplay, REM and Madonna. The atmosphere is great and the venue is perfect to enjoy live music.

The O2 Arena is a great venue for tours of the most famous artists. It can hold up to 20,000 people and has the IndiO2 next door for smaller, live performances. O2 Arena attracts the big name stars on tour such as Elton John, Britney Spears and the Rolling Stones.

The Forum is another music venue which is a renovated building that has grown to hold the capacity of 2350 people. As it has been converted, it has great design and décor. It has had performances from Van Morrison, Radiohead, The Prodigy and James Brown.

The Royal Albert Hall is the most famous and classic music venue. It is famous for hosting the Proms concert. It was opened in 1871 by Queen Victoria and is a historical building. The Royal Albert Hall hosts all sorts of music such as rock, pop, ballet and opera. It has also seen artist from Led Zeppelin and Abba in the 70s. This venue is a must see.

With London being the most talked about city when it comes to music in the UK, these venues will give you a great atmosphere and superb surroundings if you fancy a seeing a gig whilst staying in the capital.
